Black & White With Color Pop

This collection plays with contrast and emotion — where selective color transforms each black-and-white scene into something unexpected. A single hue draws the eye, revealing focus, energy, and story within the simplicity of monochrome. Black & White with Color Pop celebrates balance between subtlety and bold expression.

A photograph titled "The Mossy Pines," capturing a serene scene at Asticou Azalea Garden in Northeast Harbor, Maine. The image features a moss-covered pine branch with a color pop effect, highlighting vibrant touches of red against the muted tones of the peaceful garden landscape.
This black and white photograph with a color pop effect captures a life raft from the Margaret Todd, a renowned four-masted schooner based in Bar Harbor, Maine. The image focuses on the red hues of the raft's edges, contrasting vividly against the grayscale background of the serene waters and distant horizon. The Margaret Todd is celebrated for offering scenic tours and sunset cruises around Bar Harbor, allowing passengers to experience the majestic coastal landscapes of Maine. This photograph not only highlights the meticulous details of the life raft but also evokes a sense of preparedness and maritime heritage associated with the schooner.
"Pemaquid Point Lighthouse Color Pop" showcases the iconic Maine lighthouse with a color pop effect, highlighting the rugged orange rocks against the grayscale sky and sea. A modern take on a coastal classic.
This thought-provoking photograph, titled "Concrete Path," is artfully captured at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay, Maine. The image cleverly employs a concrete aperture to frame a crisply focused forest scene along the garden's trail, illustrating a striking contrast between the rough, blurred texture of the concrete and the detailed natural environment. This composition underscores the juxtaposition of man-made structures with the untouched beauty of nature, inviting viewers to reflect on the interplay between built environments and natural landscapes.
This artistic photograph captures the striking beauty of a red daylily in full bloom, set against a monochrome background of other garden flora. The color pop technique enhances the vivid red petals and golden throat of the flower, making it stand out dramatically. This image was taken at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, showcasing the lush and vibrant landscapes that these gardens are known for.
Love Locks of Red
This photograph, titled "Mountain View from the Bay," captures the serene beauty of a sailboat anchored in a calm bay, with a mountainous backdrop adding depth and grandeur to the scene. The color pop effect emphasizes the bright orange hues of the boat’s details, contrasting against the grayscale tones of the surrounding water and sky. The reflection of the boat on the still waters enhances the tranquility of the moment, evoking a sense of peace and connection to nature. This image beautifully highlights the serene coastal landscapes of Downeast Maine.
The Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse in Rockland, Maine is a stunning sight, especially during the annual lighthouse opening event in September. To reach the lighthouse, visitors must traverse a man-made rocky breakwater that stretches nearly a mile. It was during one of these treks that I stumbled upon this breathtaking scene. As I climbed to the top of the lighthouse, I noticed a boat in the distance making its way towards us. Without a camera stand, I leaned over the rail and steadied my camera loaded with 35mm slide film. The ship soon came into view and crossed in front of the lighthouse, making for a truly unforgettable moment.
